Advance is a city-wide in-work support programme supporting people across Edinburgh who are already in employment and may need support to remain in work, progress in their career or move into a new role.
The programme supports people who may be experiencing in-work poverty, are at risk of losing their job, would like to increase their hours or pay, are looking for progression, or are considering a change in role to improve job security or working conditions.
Through personalised one-to-one support, our Employment Advisers work with individuals to understand their circumstances, aspirations and goals, and develop an action plan tailored to them.
Support can include:
- Support to sustain current employment
- Career progression and identifying new opportunities
- CV, application and interview support
- Support to increase hours, pay or responsibilities
- Training and skills development
- Employer engagement
- Specialist welfare advice, including benefit checks and income maximisation
